I got the chance to shoot a Tim Horton's commercial last April with a great production house that goes by the name of, "Spy films". Shasta Lutz from Jigsaw was the casting director on this project and she also cast me in the "Blind Date" commercial for the Vancouver Science Center.
Before the shoot date the actor usually attends a wardrobe fitting. When I walked in there and tried on their brown pleated pants, baggy brown blouse, hair net, and visor for the first time, I realized that I've never really payed attention to the mandatory uniforms the staff have to wear. I haven't worn such high wasted pants since the 90's! I do have to give them kudos for being clean and presentable though. The hair must be tucked in at all times, no large earings, no bright nail polish, nails must be filed down etc. Did you know that they supposedly throw out their doughnuts every eight hours? The things I learn on set :)
The actual shoot was quick and simple. It only took a half a day and we shot the spot in three different ways....in French, English and using an american cup and change. The french version was just a matter of changing the cup and the worker's name tags. This way they can play the same commercial as many times as they want in any location. I should add that it was a Tim Horton's camp day commercial, so it was promoting a great cause. Every year they raise money for this special event. All Timmies has to do now, is serve gluten free food and it would be the perfect place :)
Here are some pictures from set....
